Interview
Kseniia Yudina, formerly director of logistics, now leads a number of projects in the field of supply chain management and production logistics.
Tell me, do you believe in intuition?
– Yes, of course, I don’t even have a question whether to believe in it or not. Intuition is simply everything. This is when you clearly and quickly understand how to act, where to “dig”…
Do you use intuition in your business?
– I always use it. The only caveat is that in the business environment it is not customary to say that it seems to be my intuition (admit it, it does not sound convincing). Large sums and resources are often at stake, so I prefer to support my intuition with economic reasoning and risk analysis.
Can you give an example of such a situation. How did you realize that this was an intuitive decision, and what should be done exactly that way?
– Logistics is strongly influenced by the ever–changing environment. Sometimes borders with neighbors are closed, then suddenly there is a ban on the import of any components, raw materials, products. Sometimes the container is not released from the port, sometimes there are surprises at the customs… We often have to make decisions “in advance” without having a set of all the facts and consequences. Then intuition comes to the rescue, some call it professional sense. There are quite a lot of similar examples, such as when for some reason you urgently wanted to check a financial report and you immediately see an error or inconsistency. When you suddenly decide to ask…
How do you know that this is the most intuitive solution?
– I feel it, this decision is like lightning, clear and accurate. I feel it completely, it is clear and unambiguous. A clear sign for me, if it diverges from external facts and generally accepted stereotyped thinking.
How successful are the decisions you made using intuition?
– Those decisions that were made according to the voice of intuition were the only correct ones at that moment of action. This can be seen from the results.
Is it worth developing the ability to make intuitive decisions and why?
– Definitely worth it. It is a powerful helper and decision–making tool both in business and in other areas of life.
What advice would you give to people who want to learn how to make intuitive decisions, what to look for?
– First of all, pay attention to your condition. It is necessary to tune yourself to the right frequency and intuition will sound by itself. The main and mandatory attribute is to do what you love and get pleasure from it. If there is pleasure, with experience comes confidence and peace. When the mind is calm and cool–headed, when you can get out of any situation and look at it from the side, then intuition will start a dialogue with you. And this wonderful conversation will not leave you indifferent. You will definitely feel that you need to do exactly that with all your guts, as they say “with your liver”… But excitement, fear, uncertainty make intuition inaudible. That is, this matter is very thin 😊 and in order to use it, you need to be in good mental shape.
